Art
Direction

Learn how Joseph Cross built the visual identity of Marathon from scratch — then build your own. Over 5 days, you'll develop a complete art direction project following the same process used on AAA franchises, with daily feedback from the artists who shipped it.

Day 1
Joseph presents Marathon's art direction — how he coined "graphic realism" and built a visual language from scratch. Simon launches your assessment exercise and sets the creative brief for the week.
Day 2
You start building your art direction. Simon works alongside you — guiding your visual research, validation, and early design decisions.
Day 3
Push into architectural design and environmental storytelling. Daily feedback from Simon on your visual language and consistency.
Day 4
Refine your art direction into a cohesive package. Simon helps you prepare your presentation for the final review.
Day 5
Joseph returns. He reviews every project, critiques your art direction, and shows you exactly how to elevate it — the same feedback process he uses on his teams.

Prop
Design

Design a complete prop ecosystem for your world. Sheng Lam takes you inside his ideation process — how he turns references into iconic, coherent designs for AAA games and films. You'll leave with a collection of props that tell a story together.

Sheng Lam

Concept Artist — ILM, Arkane, Don't Nod
The Creator · Deathloop · Life is Strange 2 · Star Citizen · Concord
Day 1
Inspiration and the creative muscle. Sheng introduces his method — the observing eye vs. the perceiving eye. How everyday objects, food science, and cultural traditions become raw material for design ideas. You pick your world and start gathering references.
Day 2
Extracting design ingredients. Learn to break any reference down into its key components — proportions, shapes, hierarchy. Build your first "recipe list" and start cooking: rearranging ingredients into new prop concepts for your world.
Day 3
Theme combination and art direction. Combine unexpected themes to create something original — the way Blasphemous mixed Spanish folk tradition with dark gothic, or how Sheng turned social media brands into retro audio hardware. Apply this to your prop ecosystem.
Day 4
Time to cook. Scale up your designs, push variations, and learn when to pull back. Sheng covers over-detailing pitfalls, readability hierarchy, and how to maintain consistency across a full collection of props. Refine your strongest pieces.
Day 5
Final presentations. Sheng reviews every project — critiquing your prop ecosystem, your recipe list, and your creative decisions. You leave with a coherent collection and a repeatable ideation process you can apply to any future project.
